I am having a strange problem and am hoping you one of you can help. My 92 5spd n/a developed an issue a few days ago that I cant track down. The car runs fine, idles smooth, and pulls well (258k miles on the motor). I have done no new work on it lately that would effect anything except to repair the connector to the power steering solenoid. The problem is that after the car warms up, it will stall when coming to a stop, and will not idle. It has to be very warm to do it. Even when this is happening it seems to run perfectly. I have not had time too really dig into it. I have adjusted the IAAC, and checked for codes (no codes, 55), cleaned the maf and air filter. I have been searching through old idle issue posts and have not found one that is temp sensitive. For example, yesterday I drove to work in the morning and it was flawless. Went to lunch at 2pm and again it was flawless. Started my car at 5pm to go home and it would not idle at all. I have to keep my foot barely on the gas to keep it going. The ambient temp was about 80 degrees. I am thinking that a component is failing, but not until it gets "heat soaked". When driving home I had to balance between clutch, brake and gas to keep from stalling at intersections. By the time I got home, it was fine again. That I why I think heat soak has something to do with it. After driving it air circulation in the plenum may be cooling the component enough to function. I will be hooking up to my consult tomorrow to check further, but may have a hard time catching it because it is so intermittent. Can you guys give me some suggestions? I am also not able to find the faq on the steps to set the hard idle. I remember a writeup that sets the hard idle in conjunction with unplugging the tps at one point. I just cant find it. Thanx
