I did a full 120K about 1K miles ago and ever since I have what appears to be a very slight squeak coming from one of my belts. If the car sits over night when i start it there is a very short series of chirps coming from what i think is the alternator belt. If I blip the throttle I can get it to make a full belt squeal but it goes away very quick. My belts are brand new factory belts and I tightened them so there is about a half inch deflection up and down (.25 up, .25 down). I have never encountered such a persistant squeak before. Is the belt relaxing and stretching out? Anytime the car is up in the air I give the alt belt a couple of turns, it goes away, and then comes back in a week or so. I dont want to tighten the piss out of it because I have seen pics of an over tight alt belt cracking the waterpump in half.on a separate note, I really hate the power steering adjustment. the pump barely moves even with all the bolts loosened including the one behind the pulley. Mine really doesnt move very freely any ideas on the alt belt?
