Message	Yank the starter and bring it to an auto parts store to have it tested. While you're down there, inspect the teeth on the ring gear to make sure they aren't too damaged. If a good portion of the teeth are worn down, you will have to replace the flywheel, or else a new starter will still have engagement issues.
