Subject	Can a bad o2 sensor cause erratic idle ?

Message	At idle the exhaust gas has a bad smell and causes eye burn ( I guess running rich at idle). - I replaced the catalytic converters with straight pipes. -EGR deleted. The car is stumbling till 2500 RPM and then runs smoothly.
