At idle (UR pulley) voltage readings: A/C + headlights on + stereo on: 12.5v A/C + headlights off + stereo on (not loud): 13.4vDriving: ~14v From what I understand a healthy alternator should have me at 14v regardless. Alternator is one of the few things I haven't purchased new as it looked rebuilt when I installed (engine wasn't in car). I've never been able to get a smooth idle, but driving around the car runs fine. Could low voltages at idle cause issues? I don't see any power steering leaks above the alt which I know is the common cause of failure. Considering purchasing one of the "hi amp" alternators for sale. Is there any reason to purchase more than a 120 amp alternator? Found some positive reviews on here for eagleautoelectric alternators, but most went with 180 amp version which seems like overkill.
