Message I think I understand how the FPR works: It's a mechanical device actuated by manifold vacuum that changes return fuel flow restriction to influence fuel pressure at the injector. (Right?)

So now I'm just curious: Why not just let fuel pressure be maximal all the time (imagine the FPR with the vacuum reference disconnected)? Is it just a matter of saving wear on fuel system parts? Or am I missing something critical about how the FPR operates/what it does?

I realize this is probably a silly question but I'd like to understand.

Thanks.
Andy
