Message My alternator went out a few weeks ago. While I was on the way home the ABS and a couple of other lights came on and then the car died. I had my wife come with jumper cables and we let the battery charge off her car for a little while. I only live about 5 miles from where it stalled so I drove it home without any problems.

I replaced the alternator (replaced with the 90 amp turbo instead of the 80 amp that usually comes on the N/A). Everything seemed fine at first and while I was taking things apart I took the radiator out to clean it and cleaned the air filter. I have everthing back together and now when I first start the car the battery, light malfunction, and sometimes the brake lights stay on after the car is cranked. They dim and start to go off as I rev the engine but then come back on as it returns to idle. After the car warms up or after some period of time they go off completely. I don't see them again until the car has sat overnight. There's also a noise under the drivers kick panel (almost sounds like like a relay kicking on and off really fast).

When the dash lights are on I'm only getting about 12.1 volts to the battery but once the lights go off I'm getting 13.8. I've noticed that even when I'm not have the problem with the dash lights and the alternator is putting out what seems like normal voltage that the inside cabin lights and sometimes that dash lights dim (just for a half second or so) when I turn on the headlights or the air conditioner. This might have been happening before but I'm not sure if it might be an indicator of a bigger issue.

I've checked the following:

Cleaned the ground connections in the engine bay: One on the passenger side behind the headlight, one on the back of the engine, one on the driver side of the engine and the one behind the drivers headlight.

I've verified that all of the fuses are good

I've verified that the belt is tight and that all of the alternator connections are good and tight.

Cleaned the battery connections and verified that they are on tight.

Verified that there are no engine codes

The car seems to run fine and I never really had any issues before the alternator went out. Just trying to think of what else it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
