Message Been playing around with my HICAS cause the light is on. The more interesting part of this is that the steering wheel has a LOT of play in it. Going down the freeway I have to turn the wheel like almost a half turn just to get it to "engage" and be able to make a lane change. I don't know what happened or why it started doing this. All this time I thought it was the real wheel steering control but figured out this weekend that it's actually the FRONT wheels NOT MOVING when I rock the steering wheel back and forth until I move it a LOT. I've tried to get it into the diagnostic mode for the HICAS but not with any luck.

My question is this...

Is all the play indicative of something wrong with the front steering rack or is this a symptom of something possibly wrong with the back steering control and it's causing it to show up (somehow) in the front....?

I don't want to pay $300 for a rebuilt unit if that's not going to solve the problem. I could rebuild it myself but, again, I don't want to go through all that just to find out it wasn't really the problem in the first place. Has anyone else ever had these similar symptoms?
