| Cold weather rolled around a few weeks back and since then I've been having some strange problems with my Z during startups. The Z is a '90 N/A 101k miles with a full 120k kit done to it just a month ago. Very well taken care of. I've never even driven it (summer included) without warming the car up first. If it sits for more than an hour, it takes roughly 4-7 seconds to start up. Sometimes longer. After startup, the car drives perfectly. A couple days ago during a 40 minute highway cruise, after I got off the highway and slammed on the gas and reached 5k rpm, car started stuttering/dying pretty bad if I put too much gas on/go too high on rpms. Driving at 2-2.5k rpms it was decent. Not top performance but decent. After I shut the car off at the gas station and filled it up, it would no longer start. Tried to start it many times in a period of an hour to no avail. Had it towed to my house, checked a spark plug to see if it was firing (it was), checked if it was getting fuel (all was ok), and finally decided to try to start the car again while a mechanic friend was there and it started up. Since then, this hasn't happened again even if I go over 5k rpm. The mechanic friend said it's most likely the fuel pump going out and temporarily went out due to heat because I was running almost on E and it didn't have enough gas in tank to keep it cool. 1) Does it sound like he's right and I should try replacing fuel pump? 2) TT fuel pumps are cheaper even though it's apparently better. Should I go with the TT one or buy the N/A? 3) On a 2+2, do you have to drop the gas tank to get to the fuel pump or can you get to it through the trunk?
