Message Just wanted to let you guys know I just completed a 120k t belt on my twin turbo. I replaced the water pump, t stat, basically all the goodies you would typically do. I get done, fire it up, everything seems perfect. VTC gears quiet, no oil leaks etc and then I smell that sweet coolant smell...son of a....I see coolant on the top of the water pump. Looks like it's coming from the upper coolant pipe. I remember having to kind of speed through the install of the top pipe because the bypass hoses push against the pipe and I was quick about tightening up those allens. For sealant I used Toyota black FIPG. I was a Toyota tech and still use the stuff because it typically works great...however toyotas use red coolant and my prestone green breaks it down. I have a can of some brownish colored permatex aviation liquid gasket that I may use. Hate having to go back in after such a nice slow enjoyable install.
Any tips on how to install the bypass hoses and upper pipe would be appreciated. I put the rubber hoses on first since it doesn't look like you can reach the bolts with the clamps on...but that's just me. I think I am going to take everything off regarding coolant and do a reseal of everything...dangit
