Message	to start is a clue that your starter is getting power. Do you hear the starter solenoid clicking? Either your starter is shorted internally, or your battery has a dead cell. In the latter, it could still show a good voltage, but will fail under load. I would remove the battery from the car and have it load tested at most any auto parts store.
