Then start it and top it off as needed, the drive it home.

Make sure you have a few bottles of coolant with you just in case it starts to heat up again on the way home. Of course you do not want to open the radiator cap of an overheating engine! You can however, open it slightly and the pressure will bleed off. (This is how it's done at your local jiffy lube or local shop, etc.) BE VERY CAREFUL!

As for bleeding the system, they have special funnels you can buy to do this and they work great. They are burp funnels(spill free funnels). I use mine anytime I do coolant work on any vehicle. They are pretty cheap and work great. They raise the high point of the cooling system and slowing replace air with coolant.
