You have a 1/8 chance of getting it right when you install it and might be able to use a marker or something to get it lined up. The CAS alignment pin also aligns with the notch for the timing belt marker on the gear as well as the alignment dowel hole for the gear, so it IS possible to install it correctly without the half-circle tab (see image below). The teeth should be sufficient to keep the rotation stable, assuming they're not worn. I made this picture for a local member who went through the same thing.
 That said, I would highly recommend replacing the drive pin with a JWT chromoly pin. It can be replaced without pulling the cam/belt/etc. That local member I mentioned did just this; I made him a "tool" to install the new drive pin with an old bad CAS.
