Nissan calls it the Thermo Control Amp. :From the 1994 FSM, page HA-14: :"FREEZE PROTECTION : :If evaporator coil temperature drops below a specified point, the TCA interrupts compressor operation. When evaporator coil temperature rises above the specification compressor operation will resume. This condition (compressor cycling) indicates a malfucntion in the system."That is contrary to this link, which indicates a TCA controlled system is supposed to cycle: [ http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=ha&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=39&design=default&total=168 ] FWIW, I converted my system to R-134a with the exception of the TCA, and my evaporator regularly freezes over. I've been meaning to install a TCA to prevent this. It definitely sounds like yours is reading too low. Hopefully changing it will fix your issue If you remove your glove box you should be able to see it: [ http://www.nissanpartszone.com/components/1995-nissan-300zx_cooling-unit-271-1609.html ]
