Message The R12 auto AC systems were not clutch cycling thanks to the Throttle Suction Valve. With manual R12 systems and all R134a systems, the TSV was replaced with the thermo control amp, which accomplishes the same thing by cycling the clutch.

If you energized the clutch by wiring it directly to the battery, you have bypassed everything else in the system, including the ECU, thermo control amp, and the pressure switch. If it is still cycling when connected in this manner, you either have a fault in your wiring or your clutch is bad
