Message I did a whole bunch of searching but came up short on this. I was wondering if anyone would check my logic and calculations.

I removed my third brake light panel on my 91 N/A to put one of the Mission style replica wings Powertrix sells on. I love the wing, it's super rad, but now a warning light goes off in the dash everytime I brake. It's annoying. My plan, since I still want to have a 3rd brake light, is to get my center panel converted with the EL panel and hook it up to the third brake light circuit with a seperate ground so the sensor unit won't know it's there. I'm also under the assumption that because there is an AC adapter in the EL display, the sensor circuit will be looking at infinite equivalent resistance from the panel.

This should still leave me with a total of 52 watts of Power to dissipate to make sure my idiot light doesn't come on. I did some calculations:

We know Power = Voltage X Current, or Power = Voltage^2 / Resistance , due to ohm's law. Assuming the nominal 12V for the system, and 52 watts for the lights, the equation looks like: 52 = 12^2 / R -> This simplifies to R = 2.76923 Ohms.

So, Here's where I wanted some logic checking. Would it stand to reason that if I got a 2.7 Ohm 50W Resistor and put it in instead of the light, would my warning light go away? Did I miss anything here? Does anyone have any other suggestions?
