So ive been hunting down a mysterious unstable idle issue. Ive thrown about $300.00 at the problem with no fix. took apart the IACV, AAC, Valve and rebuilt it, bought all new silicon hoses to replace all the rubber vacuum hoses PCV valves, cleaned the PTU, replaced the PTU harness, blah blah blah. Long story short, I was unscrewing the two grounding straps that come out of the harness near the #6 coil pack and actually mount to a screw on the coil pack mount. I unscrew the grounding straps and move them out of the way and Abra Cadabra...the unstable idle is cured. I think to myself maybe i moved one of the wires to the IACV and they have a short in it, but no ..I remount the grounding straps to the plenum and the unstable idle comes back, misfiring and all. So i just wrapped these wires up with electric tape. My question, Obviously those grounding straps need to be grounded, so something is either wired wrong or something has a short in itbut i dont know where to start. What are those ground straps for ? For what device? Any ideas ?
