Subject	How to clean/remove fuel pump sock?

Message	I haven't gotten a chance to try to take the fuel pump sock off; quick glance looked like you need to unbolt the clasp near the sock and then just pull it off the tube. Is that correct? And, any suggestions on how to clean the sock effectively and how to get debris out of the gas tank with it on the car? My first thought is to get a fine mesh strainer and empty/fill the tank a few times by hand.
