| Need your inputs please. Just completed another timing belt replacement (and 120k kit) and started her up. There is a relatively loud clunking coming from what seams to be behind timing belt cover in the passenger side intake cam region. I put my ears over the top of the motor and at first it sounded like it was coming from inside the motor (the cams i guess) but then i started feeling around and i felt a thumping movement on the timing belt cover. The only thing i can think of is the VTC springs are messed up because i made sure all the timing marks lined up and that all the bolts on the cams were tight as well. After the timing belt tensioning i turned the crank with a torque wrench and made sure that each revolution was without interference or major resistance. Ive done 2 other timing services before on my old Z and both times were flawless. Ive never had experience with these kinds of bad engine sounds. Please tell me im not screwed.
