Damn rough roads. If this is the problem, you turn the key and get a single click, and when you release the key, another single click. If your battery is dead, turn on the headlights and try to crank. The headlights will practically turn off and your dash lights will dim badly. There also may be several clicks as the solenoid bounces because of having insufficient current. If you push start the car your alternator will whine a bit because it is heavily loaded max charging the battery.
