Subject	Tips/tricks to removing lifters with heads on the engine?

Message	I've got the cams out and need to pull the lifters on my way to replacing the valve seals. It looks like there is enough of the lifters exposed to gently grab with a pair of needlenose pliers and lift them out. I'm worried about scratching them though, is there a better/easier way?
