Subject	ac compressor question. does it need to come off the motor

Message	i know in the motor pull page it says to remove the compressor when pulling the engine. my question is, is it necessary ? it doesnt look like it would get caught on anything when the motor is lifted. there is nothing but space there. the ac lines are disconected from the condenser and the condenser and fan are out. what is the reason for removing the compressor ?
