Message Is the stock NA tune known to run on the rich side??

I've fixed all my vacuum leaks as of about a month ago. The car ran great and smooth throughout the RPM range. Well, a week or so ago, I developed another vacuum leak. (I'm sure the cheap Pep-boi's o-rings on the balance tube are failing again; they melt) The car's idle isn't pretty, but it's fine off idle, and in fact, it runs NOTICEABLY (not huge, but noticeable) better off idle and part throttle, especially cold. I mean it pulls a bit harder with less throttle, and throttle response is noticeably crisper! Feels like it would after a tune-up if it needed one. Honestly, I'd be happy if it felt this way all the time, minus the rough idle.

I'm not sure what to make of it. I've got plugs and Pop Charger from Greg at SZ, injectors are all right around 12.6ohms, coils are in good shape, clean MAS....I would think it has had the leak long enough for the ECU to compensate for the off idle trims.

Of course, I'm going to fix the leak so I can have the smooth idle back, but I'll miss the added perks from leaning it out a little.

Any ideas as to what's goin on here? Any one else experience this? Are there factors that could cause the NA to run good, but slightly on the rich side, and thus not be able to optimally self-tune?
