1. install the 10mm arm bolt 2. Tighten the auto-tensioner to the block, pretty much guestimating its position. I tighten it down enough so it won't move, but not so much that I'll break my arm trying to loosen it again. 3. slowly remove the 10mm arm bolt 4. Rotate the engine a few times 5. Wait about 10 minutes, then rotate it a few more times. 6. If it needs adjustment, carefully re-tighten the 10mm arm bolt. 7. Use a prybar (if necessary) to move the auto-tensioner in the direction (towards or away from the belt) necessary to achieve that 4mm gap. For example, if I got ~2mm of gap, I'd pull the tensioner away just a tiny bit. If I got 6mm gap, I'd have to push the tensioner towards the belt a little bit. If I'm working on an engine with a friend, I'll usually have one person hold the tensioner in place while the other tightens its 3x12mm bolts down. Again, this is where a pry bar comes in handy. 8. Repeat steps 2 through 6!It usually only takes a couple of adjustments to get it dead-on.
