| I don't have the personal experience of this yet myself but I have been reading the forms here for years. It is possible to do 500 hp on stock internals but if you've got the money to do a build, I'd say go for it. Do a compression test for sure. Inspect the cylinders for wear and have everything cleaned up at a machine shop if needed. The weisco/eagle combo is affordable and would be plenty strong for a 500hp build. New coated main bearings for good measure. Likely need larger CC injectors (stay away from venoms) You can probably get the rest of the way there with the breather mods that are out there (Selin/Dual JWT POPs/2.5" intake/58mm TBs/msp manis/3" exhaust) A chipped ecu and a good tune should finish it off. New parts should run what... maybe $3-4k (my rough guess) and the build/install costs would depend on who is doing it. If that's too much money there's always some give and take on used parts in the classies. Personally if I were in your situation and knew I had a solid engine with good compression I'd probably hold off on the engine build until I had experienced the breather mods, new injectors and a solid tune. The recently posted dyno charts show them as giving very impressive results.
