Hey guys. So on my '90 N/A i've recently put on a custom exhaust from a donor car. i had to slightly modify the cat piping though by cutting off the bottom of the heat shielding around the piping. now with the new exaust on it there is some rattling whenever i accelerate fast, if i BABY the gas pedal it will not do it, but i mean BABY IT. i believe it is the heat shield rattling and it sounds like the rattle is coming off of the front of the car. BUT the exhaust system does have a few pinholes in it i have yet to fix. I want to try removing the heat shield asap, but i have a few concerns about the piping getting too hot for any parts around it. can anyone tell me if it is safe to remove it w/o replacing it without any kind of substitute? thank you much -miles
