i did a ecu diagnostics and got code 21 & 34 then i looked it up and found out it its ptu related while on my search on so many forums i found a quick solution for the corrosion of the sub harness which was to remove it .......im still regretting that move but it did got the code 21 removed did another test and got code 34 & 14 i then removed the ground terminal for about 10 seconds replaced it and did a third test and only got code 34 and this code ive read wouldn't be the reason my cars is turning on so ive tried the volt meter with key on and tested the 6 pin side for volts (im guessing thats the side to the coils) while the 7 pin side is connected and i get .02 volts
i then assumed the ptu was dead but i decided to test the 7 pin side harness connection with the volt meter to see how many volts were going to the ptu and that came up with .02v then i tested the 6 pin harness for volts they all had 12V(same as battery) now this just confused me more???????????? those this mean my ptu is fine since its sending what its receiving? then i thought some how i mixed up the connections when i spliced them but i double checked and they are correct and i did one by one to make sure i wouldn't mix them up ive also been searching for a way to test my ptu and found this

ive tried the first table didnt work for me then tried the 2nd table mine had about 100 to 200 lower than the results shown table 4 is one ive been trying to figure out it shows that the negative post should be in ground but which ground? should i have it in the pin with the g but then they would be in the same side or have it plugged to the car and test it there while getting ground from the car??? i really want to get the hang of this testing because im thinking of buying one from a guy on craigslist he doesn't have his z anymore so we cant test it on his car so i would have to test it with the multi meter
he said he bought it because his car had a problem and when he switched them the car would stay the same thats all he said he didn't explain much so he saved the ptu
