Good afternoon everyone… I’ve been reading this forum from time to time since I bought my 96 NA late last year. Thanks to everyone for all of the useful information that’s helped me with my issues so far. Since then, I’ve been anxious for more power and just recently bought a 94 TT model. The only catch is that the TT has a few issues with it, and hasn’t even been started in 5 years. Rather than cite the long list of things that will need to be fixed (as I’m sure I’ll be back on here to ask for help on them), I was hoping you all could help me with what I need to do in order to make sure she is ready to start when the time is ready. In the research I’ve done, I’ve read people say that I need to drop the entire gas tank, clean it out, get EVERY fluid and filter out of the car, flush the lines, and replace it all… not to mention changing the plugs and about a million other things. I’ve also read the other extreme of change the oil and turn the key. I do want to get it running, and want to do it right, but at the same time I don’t want to do any extra work than I need to. Does anyone have any advice and any resources or tips on how to do what I need to do? As a side note… I am by no means a mechanic, but think of myself to be able to figure things out fairly well. This is not a car I need to have running in any time frame either, so I’m taking on this project as a learning experience that I’ll be patient (and frustrated in the future too I’m sure) with. Thank you all so much.
