I'm getting a code 32 (EGR malfunction) on my '96 300ZX NA. I'm figuring the most likely cause is the EGR solenoid itself, but the cables coming out of a large bundle are beginning to look a little ratty themselves, and I can't rule out that one of them might have finally just busted after years of sitting in the engine compartment and vibrating for over a decade. My theory is that if I could put a resistor in place of the EGR solenoid connection that could simulate the same load the ECU sees, and the code goes away, that will tell me for certain whether or not it's the solenoid or the cable that's bad. Anyone ever try this before? Anyone have any idea what the DC resistance of the EGR solenoid valve is and/or how much current it draws when being activated by the ECU. Thanks in advance!
