Z starts to steady climb to the redline within 10/15 min. of starting, so I kill engine for 10 secs. reboot and gauge drops to normal reading for about another 5 or 10, then begins climbing again. You guys thoughts?

If it's the stock gauge, change the one wire sensor (n/m)

Check your coolant level from the radiator..

run the car with the radiator cap off & heater on.
