Ok so a little background info. Turbos are the "Big CHRA" turbos that turbochargers.com offers, they're essentially just stock turbos with a huge CHRA in it. They are hooked up with stock oil and coolant lines and controlled from a Profec B. Since my TT swap, they have remained unchanged. I run 18.5 PSI on high setting and 13psi on low. Ive dont dragon runs, hard runs through twisties and screwing around on the highway but that was the extent of the hard running. Never had any issues with boost spikes or change in boost. Here is my issue: I went to the SCCA event in Kershaw SC this weekend for PDX time trials. After my warmup lap and 2 aggressive laps I notice the peak boost has moved from 18psi to 23psi. No change in any setting. This is in high setting, boost would rise just like normal, no sputter, no needle jump. it just instead of stopping at 18, it stopped at 23. Didnt fall back down to anything less, it just held 23. After that session, I got curious and hit full boost in the straight on the warmup lap of the next session. Hit 18 psi and held just like normal. After another lap or so, it went back to 23. Low boost setting gave a typical "spike" Instead of 13 psi, it would hit 16 or 17 and fall back to about 15. All readings taken with a Defi gauge. Sorry for the long post, but what are your thoughts? Just over heating the boost control solenoid? Its mounted in that little "tub" below the brake and clutch master cylinders.
