Maybe. That would sound like an offset that is too low -- so the wheel/tire sticks out further away from the car -- close to or past the top of the fender. Yeah, you wouldn't want a spacer if that's the case. You'd have the opposite problem. I've heard of people having the mounting surface of their wheels shaved to push the offset out farther (more +) but I don't know if (structurally) that's a good idea on these wheels or not. Also see this post: AVS 5 I would definitely try to figure out the offset first ..and double-check that it is indeed 8.5 wide. If it's nowhere on the wheel, then I'd check any paperwork, or call that shop in San Jose. Either way, a competent wheel shop should know how to address this correctly. Can you post some pics from different angles -- straight on, from side, top down above fender, wheel straight, wheel at full turns, etc? Plus other people will see the picture icon and may be more likely to chime in. =)
