Message them are reading low - suspect it's a wear issue. BUT could also be due to engine sitting around for a long time? Sometimes the luck of the draw with JDM engines - really a crap shoot.

Something you can try that's pretty easy and cheap. Pick two cylinders, remove plugs, make sure pistons aren't at TDC* and add some ATF. Need enough ATF to put about 1.5 inches worth on top of pistons. Can use a long wood dowl as a dip stick to check level.

Let sit for a few days, use turkey baster with hose or similar to exact the ATF. Crank engine a few time (CAS disconnected) with a rag over the spark plug opening to get out any remaining ATF. Need the ATF out so as to not hydro lock the engine. Run the engine some and retest the compression.

ATF is a trick used by old time engine restorers...

*Pistons CAN'T be high in the cylinder otherwise you'll end up with ATF spilling over into the exhaust system (don't ask how I know this).
