If the dipstick was pinched in so tight that you couldn't pull it out, and then pulled so hard that you broke the end off, how is a magnet going to help? Seems to me the only real choice is to pull the oil pan. It should reseal just fine as long as you are careful. That sounds way easier than pulling the motor again, even if you haven't bolted up the trans, exhaust, harnesses, etc.
