heat transfer coefficient than the antifreeze/coolant liquid (not sure, just going off of what you said). but regardless, if you were to use ONLY water it would easily boil and deplete the availability of fluid to act as a coolant thus causing the car to overheat. so it wouldn't have mattered that the water was transferring heat at a higher rate than antifreeze cause its useless once its boiled. thus the need for antifreeze coupled with a pressurized system to sufficiently raise the boiling temp of the fluid. so if he was using TOO much water then would his car not overheat?
