| : Having done one on my Z31 ~10 yrs ago in 2* winter temps I'll tell you right now,.. you'll never, ever want to screw with the dash ever again. Buy a brand new Heater core (it's an aging/wearing part), no sense in going used. :Get that thing hooked up and it'll be a great selling point if you ever sell it to someone who knows what it takes. (NOT that your goal is to sell, just sayin) Do the diagnostics as mentioned, and above all,.. check your coolant level. :(low coolant = no heat) I hate to say it, but on this job, getting the dash out was easier than getting the heater box out and back in. I'm not saying pulling the dash is a cakewalk, but pulling the heater box is a pain without discharging the AC and pulling the AC box first. I do agree if you go through all of this, change the core! But, if your coolant system is healthy without a lot of gunk in it, then it's likely the air mix motors on the bottom of the box are toast. One of the motors also controls the valve that allows water into the core. Unfortunately, while there are 4 total motors that control the system, at least 2 of them are no longer available from Nissan.
