I went to check my timing today and found the timing was off by several degrees. let the engine warm up and then set it to 15 degrees. When I rev the engine the timing jumps to 30 or so degrees. I didn't have anymore room to turn it clockwise so I decided to remove the CAS all together. When I put it back in the timing was at 30 degrees. I quickly backed it back down to 15 degrees again. After revving the engine I began to smell burning oil. Did I mess something up? I was getting a slow rev as well and the engine began running poorly. How can I safely put the CAS back on and get the timing adjusted without screwing anything up? And can I adjust the CAS so I can get more clockwise adjustment of the timing?
