Message	I use 10W-40, might switch to 15W-50 for the next oil change. My car usually only has lifter tick when it's very hot (ie hot start on a hot day). You can try disconnecting the VTC solenoids on either side of the engine (they're the connectors with the white sheath) and see if the rattle goes away; that would confirm the VTC springs being tired.
