Message i already switched PTU's and the subharness, no change. i guess my next step is continuity. could it also be a continuity issue between the ptu and the ECU making it an EFI harness problem?

:means there is a problem with the connections most likely.

check all the PTU connections for corrosion.
:If you have an old style PTU (has metal heatsink for a face) change it out.

Beyond that, measure the resistance between the PTU connector and the coils not firing, then check the resistance between firing coils and the PTU.

You could have a short/broken wire between the PTU and coils.
:(IF the connectors check out.)

Switching out to a known good PTU will be useful as well.
