Start the car, remove the resevoir top then get in the car and turn the wheels side to side several times. I know you don't feel it is leaking, but your symptoms sure seem to indicate a fluid problem. Have you gotten under the car and looked for signs of leakage? The alternator is usually wet on top when it's leaking. The ATF is a reddish color. I have previously experienced the cold weather light on before, and the intermittent nature of your problem, and it's always been due to low fluid. My reason is due to an annoying small leak near the pump in my case.
