It all boils down to the relative precision requirements. My best guess is that no aftermarket or OEM sender part number is really repeatable from unit to unit. Given that the manufacturers don't really care about gauge accuracy it is not in their interest to provide repeatable senders. Most factory gauges don't even have numbers on the face. Holding senders to a tight tolerance is expensive and waste of money on the part of the supplier. We care because we are anal. We push our cars hard and want to know if things vary even a little bit in order to catch an issue before something breaks. As for the thread difference, I did not rcall having any specific issue with the threads. I do believe they are not the same on the Jeep as the Z but the tapered threads on mine fit and sealed OK with normal torque and a little teflon tape. It should be fine to use an extension or a 90 deg. elbow to adapt the threads if needed. Standard plumbing fittings are more than up to the task.
KKROFFTNow occurs everywhere, simultaneously. But it doesn't have to be experienced the moment it happens. Every now that ever was is still exactly when it was, when it was now. Then, in terms of perception, is nothing more than all the nows that are no longer now. Thus, the difference between now and then is when. --The Waystoppers Users' Manual
