If you've performed a thorough system bleed and still experiencing a soft pedal, I'd look elsewhere. When was the last time the pads were changed and the rotors were turned or replaced? Worn rotors, either from runout or taper, will push the pads back into the calipers when the brake pedal is not being pressed. Then when the pedal is pressed, the pads have to travel farther before clamping on the rotor, causing a spungy feel.
