Message I've had this problem several times over the years. So I'll just list all the possibilities that I've experienced. Hahah, which is quite a few.

1. Fuel pressure. Check it with a guage while you are driving. Make sure you've got 44 or so psi at idle and that it goes up (way up) when you're on the gas pedal on the road. (someone can post exact numbers, but I believe it will go to 70 psi. Culprit in my case was fuel filter.

2. Plugs. Plug gap. Cracked plugs. Plug heat range.

3. Fuel. Shit fuel. Shit fuel runs like shit. My car is fussy now and if I run 91 or 92 octane fuel, it won't let me boost over 12psi without sputtering. 94 octane lets me hit 17-19psi. Any more than that for boost and I'm on race fuel.

4. Something could be wrong inside the cylinder causing it to detonate or perhaps piston damage causing little hot spots and so it pre-ignites. This makes a different noise, though feels similar to spark blow out due to shit fuel or plug gap too big or cracked plug insulators, etc.

Sure there are lots more but these are all thing to check in to.
