For the past couple of days I've been trying to clean up my engine bay and get rid of some unneeded lines wherever appropriate. Since I've had the car, there has been an annoying vacuum leak that I presumed was coming from the EGR valve malfunctioning. In any case, I had the battery out the the car the other day to install a battery tray that I acquired from another member. I was just doing some general inspections and discovered that there were two electrical connectors not hooked up from the stock boost solenoids. No biggie, but I also discovered a vacuum hose hiding in the rats nests of vacuum lines and cables not hooked up to anything, the source of my vacuum leak. This line came off of the bottom hard nipple (I know) that runs along the plenum on the passenger side. At this point, I decided to do some long overdue cleanup. I figure I've got a JWT ECU and test pipes, no reason for the AIV system to be hooked up. Long story short: I've removed the driver side AIV unit from the wheel wells and pulled the hose through. I then proceeded to connect the boost sensor on the drivers side to the nipple on the plenum per Robo's writeup. Problem is, I don't believe my vacuum lines were connected correctly to begin with, as some things just don't match up with Robo's write up. I do have an EBC installed, which may complicate things more than I expected. In any case, all vacuum lines from the AIV solenoid are disconnected. There are TWO long vacuum hoses coming from the passenger fender area. I know one is for AIV and does not need to be reconnected, what about the other. PRVR? What is this golf tee trick that people talk about? I've read about it but I still don't understand exactly which line to cap off. Also, if someone who has deleted AIV could kindly post (or email) a detailed picture of the EGR solenoid and related vacuum lines I would greatly appreciate it. As always, thank you in advance.
