For some reason my car keeps throwing alternator belts...3 in the last month or so and 5 or 6 since I've owned the car. I have the Stillen U/D pulley kit, and gave the mechanic the P/N the first time I brought it to him and he put on a Goodyear belt. Within 2 days it was squealing again and about a week later the belt came off (in the middle of a snowstorm). I brought it back to the mechanic and he put a Gates belt on and the same thing happened. The belt didn't fully come off, but wasn't charging enough to keep the car running. I hooked the car up to a jumpbox and ran the car, and the belt wasn't sitting in the grooves on the alternator pulley and was wiggling on the pulley instead of staying straight. We inspected the pulleys to make sure they were correctly installed and properly aligned. Before putting another belt on I called Stillen to verify we were putting the right belt on and find out what the OEM part number was for their pulley set. The rep told me to put on Gates P/N K040390, which we did. I was hoping that would do the trick. Well, immediately the new belt squealed on startup but eventually got sat and stopped. Now it's pretty much a loud (9 out of 10) squeal on start up and intermittent afterwards. Any ideas what could be going on? Like I said, the pulleys aren't worn or misaligned and I have the proper belt on, but the squeal is killing me and I've already wasted 2 tows over this. I'm about to lose my mind! Thanks in advance for the help.
