I just got done replacing the rotors and pads on my '96TT (thanks again for the great deal, Kyle!). For the rear right corner, two things: 1. I can't get the runout any better than .005". Do I really care? 2. The parking brake shoes are well worn but not quite to the point where I want to replace them. When I put the new rotor/hub on, I had a little dragging. I figured this reasonable as the rotor/hub is new so the clearances would be less. Trouble was, I turned the adjusting ring to draw the shoes in and it bottomed out after just a few clicks. I put a dial indicator on one shoe to make sure I was turning it in the correct direction and I was. This tells me if I installed new shoes I wouldn't be able to get the rotor/hub over them. I rocked the brake shoe assembly to center and was still getting a very, very slight rub. Barely audible but there. I put everything together and went out to "seat" everything. After the procedure the faint shoe-to-metal sound still comes from this corner. I haven't yet readjusted the parking brake lever - it's fairly loose while I get this figured out. Thoughts?
