Message The valve body was the same way as your pictures show. You will also notice that it is next to impossible to rotate the valve body in the lifter body manually by hand once you have it assembled, whereas, originally they rotate freely.

When I put the rebuilt lifters in the head and tightened the camshafts on top of them, the valves would not fully close. After a few manual rotations of the camshafts the lifters would start to compress a bit and the valves would fully close again. I wanted to make sure that they were fine, so for the first set I pulled out the camshaft to make sure the valve body would rotate freely again in the lifter body and it was perfect. So far I have about 15000KM on the rebuilt lifters with no ticks or issues.

Note: The only way I was able to get this to happen was to use a very thin weight oil. In this case I used 0w30 to assemble the valve body. It would not compress with 10w30.
