Well, personally I count each tooth on the belt, and MARK each tooth on the right side of the timing belt marks - marking the side of the belt as well. So when I line things up, you have the timing belt stripe, as well as a colored tooth that should be the tooth the immediate right of the mark. Or tooth #1 for each section. If the belt doesn't have marks (worn off) then you can make your own. But you do so carefully, and make damn sure you count the teeth properly. It's easy really. Also, timing belts aren't off by 1 or 2 teeth. They are perfect. Only perfect. And you must count the teeth as per the FSM and know exactly how many teeth are between each mark and you don't start that car until it's perfect. Simple as that. But yeah, 27mm and rotate the crank - clockwise please.
