I am researching some of the options available to lower the car using springs. To that end, I have compiled some metrics on the OEM and Eibach spring rates. I have double checked these, but if someone has different data, please let me know. OEM Springs TT Front: 168 lbs/in or 3.0 Kg/mm TT Rear: 134 lbs/in or 2.4 Kg/mm NA Front: 168 lbs/in or 3.0 Kg/mm NA Rear: 123 lbs/in or 2.2 Kg/mm Source: Factory Service Manuals ('91 and '93) ___________________________________________________ Eibach Spring Rates (Progressive Rates expressed xx up to xx) TT Front: 182 lbs/in upto 251 lbs/in TT Rear: 142 lbs/in upto 199 lbs/in NA Front: 171 lbs/in upto 314 lbs/in NA Rear: 142 lbs/in upto 228 lbs/in Source: Eibach Tech Rep speaking w/ Factory Authorized Distributor First I was surprised to learn both OEM TT and NA front springs have the same rates. Their physical dimensions are also the same; however, they are color coded differently and I think they have different part numbers. Second, it appears Eibach has a somewhat paradoxical approach to designing their progressive springs for the two models. While their initial front and rear spring rates would seem to reflect the OEM rate differences; their compressed end rates appear to be reversed. e.i. The Eibach NA is stiffer than the Eibach TT. Maybe someone here can explain how progressive spring rates are computed and displayed; and why these rates seem reversed from what they should be. gordo
