Message ...before screwing completely into the exhaust manifold? More about that later

WOW! I'm very flattered by the very informative response! Thanks so much for helping me out!!

Is 19-20" Hg a spec level for idle in the manifold? Or just what you measured on your '92? Unfortunately I can't connect a vacuum gauge right now. The only port I could find was a removable bolt on the manifold seen in the picture below, but I don't have the necessary plumbing to connect the gauge to this hole. Hopefully tomorrow I can stop at some car parts stores for some kind of adapter. I'll also try and find a make-shift plug to pressurize the intake manifold and check for leaks that way (unless you can tell me the vacuum test is definitive). Sorry this picture is so big. I'll cut down the resolution on future pics.

I really appreciate you including some reference to the PCV valves and hoses as they're obviously suspect too. And I'm glad you warned me about cracking the hoses by pinching them as I was preparing to do exactly that based on the manual's diagnosis.

I haven't had a chance to check the O2 voltages but if the vacuum test isn't telling I'll definitely check that out. The new O2 sensor came from nissanpartsdirect.com so it better be OEM! The old sensor seems to have been Bosch. I noticed that the sensor came out with a big nut as seen below. Is this OEM? Wouldn't this hamper the sensor's responsiveness if nothing else?

I've checked the timing and it's solid at 15 BTDC.

Thanks again for the prompt and informative response!!
